Assane is faced with an ominous figure from his past in season 4, episode 6 of Netflix's Lupin.

The episode opens with Lupin waking up in a dark room. As he regains consciousness, he realizes that he's been kidnapped and tied to a chair. A mysterious man starts speaking to him. But the two have a history.

The man's name is Guillaume. He's one of the guardians of the jewels of France. He tells Assane that he's won. His job is to ensure the treasure remains a secret. All he has to do is make sure that anyone who knows about it disappears. He brought Assane to a secret location to squeeze him for the names of the people he told about the treasure.

Meanwhile, Adele goes back to the ship to look for Benjamin but ends up meeting Raoul. She comes up with an excuse so he doesn't find out the truth. The two discuss his father, but Ben arrives before Raoul can get suspicious. Adele tells him that Assane is in trouble, but Ben wants nothing to do with him. That is, until he finds out that he's been kidnapped.

Elsewhere, Assane tells one of his kidnappers that it was his plan all along to be taken. He frees himself and knocks his captor unconscious. But before he leaves, he searches the house and finds Juliette tied to a chair. He knew she was alive because the men in black knew exactly where to find the gems. Assane, Adele, and Juliette were the only people who knew the location.

The two leave to find the gems but are forced to hide when the kidnappers walk in. They set up a meeting with Adele to trade the diamond and the crown for her parents. As a result, Assane sits in his chair and pretends he never escaped.

Meanwhile, Raoul's former cellmate, Esteban, visits him at Ben's shop. He asks Raoul to lend them his lockpicking skills again, but Raoul refuses. This angers Esteban, who says Raoul will need to compensate him if he wants out. He smashes one of Ben's vases, so Raoul pushes him through a window and starts beating him. Esteban's crew eventually pulls him off, but it's bloody.

Elsewhere, Assane and the kidnappers arrive at the meetup. As a show of good faith, Adele gives them the diamond. Guillaume says that he will release Assane if Adele gives them the crown. Any wrong move and he's dead.

Adele agrees and sends the crown over by drone. Once Assane is released, Guillaume shoots the drone. He then turns the gun on Adele, who tries to run, but is hit in the back by a bullet. She falls over the edge of the bridge into the water, while Assane watches. Guillaume then shoots Assane, who falls in after her.

But Lupin always has a plan. The day before, he and Juliette devised a plan to trick the kidnappers. Assane called Adele and Ben and told them that they were going to make the kidnappers think they were dead. Once Guillaume shot them, they'd fall into the water. But the whole time, they had metal plates under their shirts to block the bullets.

Once the kidnappers put the crown back in its place, Ben would use one of the private elevators to access the room and steal it back. The group would then meet up and take the completed crown to the Chapelle expiatoire.

Raoul hits rock bottom

Meanwhile, Sofia and Guedira return to the accident scene to see if she remembers anything. Guedira tells her that she doesn't have to if she doesn't want to, but Sofia insists. The two find a footprint from her attacker in a room just off the second-floor hallway.

Assane finally calls Raoul back. He wants to meet up to talk about something, but Assane says he has something to do. He agrees to meet with his son if he finishes early. But Raoul is suspicious.

Afterwards, Ben tells Assane that he and Claire are in love. He says he's been in love with her since he met her. But Assane calls it a betrayal and admonishes Ben for acting on his feelings for Claire.

Later, Raoul sees Assane getting into the drivers seat of Ben's car and follows him on a motorcycle.

Assane, Adele, and Juliette arrive at Louis XVI's tomb and place the crown on a bronze stand. The gems trigger a windowpane, which lights up the table, revealing a map to the treasure.

As the trio hug, Raoul watches them with tears streaming down his face.
