While Jackie, Cole, and the others were having the time of their lives at Grace’s party, a disaster was brewing simultaneously. As expected, the party got out of control, and not only did Richard’s place get trashed, but Alex, Cole, and Jackie ended up in the back of a police car.
My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 is shaping up to be a life-altering one for its characters, especially Jackie. She spent the first two seasons coming to terms with her new life in Silver Falls, but season 3 is all about her letting loose. Jackie is at a crossroads, deciding whether to stay in the past or become a new kind of Jackie who prefers to live in the present.
Jackie and Cole face the consequences for their actions
Richard and the Walters were furious with the kids throwing a party. Of course, Cole and Jackie take the most heat for the trouble because they were the organizers. Richard complains to the Walters about Jackie’s changing behavior and that grounding her in the same house as her boyfriend doesn’t exactly sound like punishment. So, they decide that Jackie would spend some time at Richard’s until things calm down.
At first, it seems like no big deal for Jackie to move out for a few days, but it soon becomes evident that Richard is trying to keep Jackie as far away as possible from Cole. He even confronts Jackie about letting herself lose and putting her future on the line, and that’s mostly because she is prioritizing her relationship with Cole.
Despite everything, Richard sets Jackie up with a renowned college counselor at the banquet and deliberately drowns her in work so she doesn’t have time for Cole. Jackie feels Richard is blowing things out of proportion, but she still works hard on her portfolio to impress Martina later at the banquet.
On the other hand, Cole feels extremely guilty about Richard’s expensive table and decides to raise the money to pay him back. He fixes the car he bought for drag racing but decides to sell it for the money. When he tells Dylan about his plans during a drive with him, he offers to buy the car so Cole can keep driving it.
Cole later returns to Richard’s place to pay him back, but he downright refuses. He not only undermines Cole's efforts but also declares him a bad influence on Jackie. He accuses Cole of pulling Jackie down and jeopardizing her future by failing to challenge her academically and help her put her best foot forward for college.
Danny delivers the sweetest proposal
After his drunken proposal to Erin, Danny agonizes over it the next day. He feels guilty and embarrassed about asking his girlfriend to marry him while he was drunk. He shares his concerns with Cole, who suggests that he not make it a big deal because Erin is understanding and mature.
However, later when Erin inquires if he remembers anything from last night, Danny lies, and his response makes her sad. The two even go on a date afterwards, but things turn awkward, and Danny decides to come clean. He tells Erin that he lied and remembers every detail about asking her to marry him.
He confesses that he doesn’t want Erin to think she has to say yes to his proposal to spare him the hurt. However, she reassures him, saying she said yes because she wanted to, not because she had to. This makes Danny extremely happy, and he immediately asks her to come with him.
Danny takes Erin to a beautiful gazebo and formally proposes to her under the starry lights. He offers her the ring he was wearing, proposing that Erin keep the ring until he gets a real one. They’ll tell everyone when they are ready, but he wants to reassure Erin that he’s serious about spending the rest of his life with her.
In return, Erin gives Danny her father’s necklace, telling him that if he were here, he would have loved him. After accepting each other’s proposals, the two kiss each other tenderly, immortalizing the sweet moment and preserving it for the rest of their lives.
Apart from Danny, other Walters didn’t exactly have as amazing a day as he did. For instance, Alex struggles to keep up with bronc riding and fails to deliver when he volunteers to ride in Wylder's place. Even though the former offers to train Alex, he ultimately disappoints both himself and the others.
On the other side of town, Hannah tries to hold down the job Katherine offered her at her clinic. She aims to lease an apartment in the meantime so that she and her boys can stay together. However, despite her efforts, it’s a tough call for anyone to give a space to someone like Hannah with no previous address or work experience.
Jackie has a meltdown
The highlight of the show was definitely Jackie’s meltdown at the banquet. She and Richard arrive at the event in good spirits. Jackie was ready to meet the college counselor, but she gets distracted by the members of the city council. She tells Richard she wants to talk about her teen annex, but he pushes her to talk to Martina first.
Unfortunately, Richard’s pushing causes Jackie to lash out, and the two argue in front of Martina, making her feel awkward. However, that isn’t the end of Jackie’s tantrums because when Richard tries to talk to her, she has a complete meltdown.
She accuses Richard of caring only about her grades and future, rather than about herself. She shouts in anger, drawing everyone's attention, including the college counselor’s, which makes Richard feel embarrassed. She alleges that Richard has set impossible standards for her, all while he himself lived the life he wanted, where he made mistakes but doesn’t allow Jackie to do the same.
Jackie thinks Richard only cares about her as long as she gets good grades and awards, and blows it out of proportion when she makes even the tiniest mistake. She blames Richard for leaving her alone in New York and for not caring enough about her for her parents to make him her guardian.
The banquet ends on a bad note with Jackie moving out of Richard’s home. When she meets up with Cole later, she tells him that she has decided not to go to Greece and instead would love to do something for herself. Jackie voices her desire to go on a road trip with her boyfriend to escape the academic pressure.
Although Cole pretends to feel happy for Jackie and support her wishes, a frown appears on his face as he hugs her. Deep down, even Cole has started to feel the dramatic changes in Jackie’s behavior, and he feels that maybe everyone is right – maybe he’s not good for Jackie.
