37 amazing TV shows you'll be shocked to know never won an Emmy

Over the years, many of TV's greatest shows were celebrated at the Emmys. Yet, somehow, these 37 amazing shows never took home an Emmy.

While movies have the Oscars, for television shows there is no award more prestigious than the Emmy. To win an Emmy is the ultimate achievement for a show and is an honor that is reserved for the best of the best, but that doesn't mean the best of the best are always awarded for their work.

Over the years, there have been many worthy winners but there have been just as many amazing shows that have been overlooked and snubbed by the Television Academy.

Ahead of the 75th Annual Primetime Emmys on Monday, Jan. 15, join us in looking back at 37 amazing shows that failed to ever take home an Emmy award despite their popularity among audiences and critics.

Better Call Saul (2015-2022)

Over its six seasons, Better Call Saul was nominated a whopping 53 times at the Emmys, yet still never managed to take home a single Emmy.

Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990-2000)

Beverly Hills, 90210 helped to launch the careers of countless stars and kept audiences entertained for a decade. Yet, somehow the show only ever secured one Emmy nomination and, sadly, did not win a single Emmy.

Triumph Over Trauma
“Triumph Over Trauma” – Amidst a shifting political climate, Frank goes head-to-head with City Council Speaker Regina Thomas (Whoopi Goldberg) over protests against police brutality. Blue Bloods (2010-Present)

Blue Bloods might be one of TV's most-watched dramas and features an incredible ensemble led by Emmy-winner Tom Selleck, but the CBS hit has never taken home an Emmy or even been nominated.

BoJack Horseman  (2014-2020)

Netflix's hit animated series might have secured three nominations at the Emmys, but BoJack Horseman failed to ever take home an Emmy during its six-season run.

The Brady Bunch (1969-1974)

The Brady Bunch might be a beloved classic that ran for five seasons, but the show never won an Emmy or was even nominated for one during its run!

Chappelle’s Show (2003-2006)

Dave Chappelle's Comedy Central series locked down three nominations over the course of its three-season run, but sadly never walked away with an Emmy.

Dead to Me (2019-2022)

Netflix's charming comedy starring Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate failed to ever be recognized by the Emmys, only ever being nominated but never walking away with an Emmy win.

The Doctor (David Tennant) /

Doctor Who (2005-Present)

This one might shock you, not only has Doctor Who never won an Emmy but the show has somehow never even been nominated during its 15 seasons.

Empire (2015-2020)

FOX's breakout musical drama was nominated eight times over its six-season run on the network, yet somehow never took home a win.

The Good Fight (2017-2022)

While The Good Wife took home five Emmys over the course of its run, its spinoff series The Good Fight wasn't quite as lucky. Although the show was nominated twice, it never won an Emmy.

The Good Place (2016-2020)

Despite featuring a talented ensemble led by Kristen Bell and Ted Danson and being recognized as one of the most brilliant comedies of the modern era of TV, The Good Place failed to take home an Emmy, though it did receive 12 nominations.

Good Times (1974-1979)

The classic comedy ran for six seasons and remains a beloved classic, yet failed to ever take home or even receive an Emmy nomination.

Grace and Frankie (2015-2022)

That's right. While Grace and Frankie was nominated for 13 Emmys during its seven-season run, the Netflix comedy starring legends Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda never took home an Emmy win.

Hannibal (2013-2015)

NBC's acclaimed drama only ever received one Emmy nomination and, sadly, never took home an Emmy win during its short three-season run.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005-Present)

FX's hit comedy has somehow never won an Emmy during its 16 seasons and counting, and somehow has only ever been nominated three times at the prestigious event.

Jane the Virgin (2014-2019)

Jane the Virgin might have made CW history by winning the network its first Golden Globe, but the Emmy voters were not as kind. Though the show was nominated twice, it never took home an Emmy.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been nominated 26 times since 2015, yet CBS's top late night series has yet to take home an Emmy.

Leave It to Beaver (1957-1963)

Leave It to Beaver might be a classic, but the beloved comedy was never lucky enough to take home an Emmy during its six seasons on air.

The Leftovers (2014-2017)

HBO is known for being quite the powerhouse at the Emmys, but even HBO has had its share of snubbed shows. Case in point, The Leftovers which only ever received one Emmy nomination.

Loki (2021-2023)

Loki might be recognized as one of Marvel's finest offerings and has been nominated for six Emmys, but the show has yet to bring home an Emmy win for the MCU.

Luther (2010-2019)

Over the course of the show's five seasons, Luther nabbed a commendable 11 nominations but sadly never took home the win on the night of the Emmys.

Married… with Children (1987-1997)

Across its eleven seasons, Married... with Children was nominated seven times but somehow never managed to take home an Emmy win.

MacGyver (1985-1992)

MacGyver entertained audiences for seven seasons on CBS in the late 80s and early 90s picking up four Emmy nominations along the way. Unfortunately, the show never took home an Emmy.

NCIS (2003-Present)

Over the course of its 21 seasons, NCIS has ranked as one of television's most-watched programs yet the show has never taken home an Emmy. It has at least been nominated three times over the years!

New Girl (2011-2018)

It's honestly criminal that New Girl was snubbed by the Emmys across its seven-season run on FOX. While the show did at least get some Emmy love in the form of five nominations, the show never walked away with an Emmy.

Newhart (1982-1990)

With a total of 25 nominations, it's shocking that Newhart never took home a single Emmy over the course of the show's eight seasons.

Oz (1997-2003)

There aren't many HBO shows that tend to get snubbed by the Emmys, but Oz is one of those rare exceptions. Oz only secured two nominations during its six seasons on air and never took home a win.

Parks and Recreation (2009-2015)

It's not only shocking that Parks and Recreation never won an Emmy, it's downright criminal! Although the Television Academy nominated the beloved comedy 14 times, it never took home a win.

Parenthood (2010-2015)

Before there was This Is Us, there was Parenthood. The series walked so This Is Us could run, with Emmy voters overlooking the show over its entire six-season run with only one nomination at the annual awards.

Peaky Blinders (2013-2022)

Considering how much the Television Academy loves period dramas, it's quite surprising to know that not only has Peaky Blinders never won an Emmy but it's never even been nominated for an Emmy.

Star Trek (1966-1969)

Although the Star Trek franchise has since gone on to win dozens of Emmys since, Star Trek: The Original Series failed to ever take home an Emmy.

Supernatural (2005-2020)

Supernatural ran for 15 seasons, but the show failed to capture the hearts of the Television Academy. The series never managed to take home an Emmy, though it did at least pick up three nominations over the years.

Suits (2011-2019)

Suits might be all the rage now, but during the show's nine-season run on USA Network, the series failed to receive the recognition it deserved with not a single Emmy nomination or win.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015-2020)

Over the span of its four seasons, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt received 18 nominations yet Netflix's hit comedy somehow failed to ever win a single Emmy.

The Wire (2002-2008)

The Wire is regarded as one of the most successful and acclaimed dramas of all time, which is why it's so surprising the show only received two Emmy nominations during its five seasons and never took home a single Emmy.

Yellowstone (2018-Present)
