Helen Mirren stuns on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards
By Shay McBryde
The goddess Helen Mirren kicked off 2024 with a bang at the 81rst Golden Globes Award ceremony with a beautifully elegant berry blush gown. Helen may not have won her category for her stellar performance as Cara Dutton in the hit Yellowstone prequel1923 but she sure turned heads at the star-studded event with her Dolce & Gabbana look.
Helen Mirren was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Television Series for 1923. It was a highly respected category with Emma Stone for The Curse, Sarah Snook for Succession, and Imelda Staunton for her role in The Crown. Sarah Snook came out on top for her role as Shiv Roy, but Helen Mirren left no heads unturned Sunday evening as she looked as regal as ever.
Harrison Ford who plays Helen Mirren’s on-screen husband was on hand to share the evening festivities. Though the atmosphere was wonderful, the stars of Hollywood were not into the show being performed by host comedian Jo Koy and his very questionable monologue. It takes a lot to please the best in Hollywood but Koy’s performance left very little to be desired. After Koy made a distasteful comment about the Barbie movie and how casting directors would call a woman with real flaws a ‘character actor’ both Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren shared their disgust on-screen for all of America to see.
The man behind the success of Yellowstone also attended the Golden Globes Kevin Costner was on board to join the Yellowstone family along with Ford and Mirren for a night of laughs and fun. There’s nothing quite as thrilling for a Yellowstone fan to see all the leaders of both 1923 and Yellowstone mixing it up.
Kevin Costner of course plays the one and only John Dutton who is a far descendant of Harrison Ford’s character Jacob Dutton. Then of course the beautiful Helen Mirren who plays Cara Dutton whom is an inspiration for all women and could have been the inspiration behind another famous Dutton, John’s daughter Beth who is played by the remarkably talent Kelly Reilly.
1923 looks to be back in full production mode very soon. If season one has already had this type of dominating success in award ceremonies imagine what season two could bring! With the likes of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren leading and supporting their work in their perspective roles in 1923 as strong as they would a big hit box office debut the sky is truly the limit for this group.
