House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on HBO and MAX in the summer of 2024. The network confirmed the news with the first look at the new season at the end of 2023. It's easily the most highly anticipated show of the year, and it's looking like a strong favorite to win the Emmy and Golden Globe for Best Drama Series next time around.

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood. The second season continues the biting season 1 finale that saw the Targaryen family split following the death of King Viserys and the war to come. We know Princess (and now Queen) Rhaenyra will not let the past go, especially after Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) lost control and allowed Vhagar to have a little snack in one of the most devastating moments of the season and series so far.

Unfortunately, House of the Dragon season 2 will be a little it shorter than the first season. There are only eight episodes in season 2, compared to the 10 episodes in the first season.

There's no doubt House of the Dragon season 2 will be one of the biggest and best shows of the year. We'll share the official release date when it's announced.
