Following the fourth episode of The Gentlemen season 2, we're entering the second half of the season in uncharted territory. Eddie and Susie nearly pulled one over on her father by going against his wishes with the marijuana bill, but he had Hawthorne killed and presumably had Eddie kidnapped. Bobby Glass is the last person they wanted to make an enemy, but here they are.

The Gentlemen season 2 episode 5 picks up with a grave being dug in a field under the cover of night as men shove Eddie, who's still alive, to the ground in front of it and beat him. Well, we have officially caught up to where the season began. Eddie lies in the shallow grave with a bag over his head. He manages to pull himself out of the grave and crawl to the note about following the X's.

He continues to crawl in the rain, making it to the side of the road by morning as a passerby finds him lying on the ground. Meanwhile in Peru, Susie and Joe are delivered for a visit to Mr. Vargas at his cocaine farm. Joe has been working for him and they're looking to make a deal to work with Vargas to move his product. Apparently, Susie's doing this behind her dad's back.

Eddie's still on the hook for a major debt

Susie hasn't heard from Eddie since his attack, which left him with broken legs, a broken arm, and other minor to serious ailments. Back at Eddie's home, Nanny advocates for Eddie to press charges because the family led him to believe Eddie was in a car accident. But Eddie has been holed up in his room away from everyone with a sour mood during his recovery.

Bella arrives in the UK and she's the first person Eddie accepts as a visitor in his room. She brings him a message from Moretti about the millions he still owes on his investment. Now he's on the hook for potential consequences if he can't repay Eddie by the end of the month. Bella offers to help him get more time, but Eddie insists he will get the money. She also admits that she loves him.

Susie and Joe meet with Chucky about the possibility of investing in his Japanese and Pakistani fusion restaurant, which really means running product in the back of the building. She next visits her father, and her mood toward him appears icier than ever before. Eddie speaks with his lawyer about getting Moretti his money, but it's not looking like a possibility.

Sabrina cries to Geoff about what happened to Eddie, fearing what could happen next. She asks Geoff to talk to Eddie, and he warns him against going after Bobby. Susie and Joe are officially in business with Vargas in running cocaine behind her father's back. She's immediately successfull and makes herself a ton of money. It's a distinct contrast to the hell Eddie is living in.

Eddie asks Stanley Johnston for a loan to repay his debts, putting the estate on the line if he can't pay back the loan. Stanley agrees to the loan and wishes for Eddie to realize the full potential of his lineage. Susie checks in with Chucky when a situation arises with Vargas' men about Susie's team wrongfully selling their product. Seemingly, the deal with Hector was false.

Susie learns the truth about Joe as Eddie pops the question

Vargas' men demand to speak with Joe, who apparently has something to do with this mess. Eddie proposes a new deal with Moretti about expanding their business, but he's not willing to put that much trust in Eddie and still simply wants his money back. While stuck in traffic, Eddie exits his vehicle and happens upon a stone, which seems to give him the confidence to walk tall.

When Joe arrives at the restaurant, the conversation continues about the stolen cocaine that they sold. Joe offers up Hector to save Susie from having a knife driven into her hand. Susie's forced to head to Joe's apartment to meet Hector, but when she's walked out the back, Gabrielle interrupts them in disguise as a worker. Jack also walks in a shoots Vargas' men dead.

Once the gunshots are heard inside the restaurant, a struggle ensues between Joe and Arturo. Susie grabs a gun off the ground and returns inside the restaurant to kill Arturo. Susie swears Jack to secrecy as he helps get rid of the bodies, but Joe insists that their only option now is to run from Vargas. While planning her escape, Susie learns from Blanket that Hector was looking for her.

She meets Joe at the airfield, but she has no intention of joining Joe. She's sending him back to Vargas in Peru because she learned that he lied to her from the moment she ran into him at the auction. Joe and Hector went around Vargas when he denied their deal, and Joe ended up killing Hector, which Susie learned when she found his body at Joe's apartment.

Joe insists that he did everything for them and that he loves her, but she's made up her mind and sends him off to his fate. She uses this situation as a means to score a real deal with Vargas. Once Joe's plane takes off, Eddie meets Susie at the airstrip before his own flight. He clocks that she's sad, which brings tears to her eyes. Have they officially buried the hatchet? Eddie then meets with Bella in Italy, telling the story of his attack and presenting her with an engagement ring. She says yes!
