Wonka isn’t playing around about his Chocolate Factory Competition. Terminations are happening quicker than anyone expected, especially the contestants in Netflix's new reality TV series. At the end of Wonka's The Golden Ticket episode 2, a termination risk still hangs in the balance for Ray, Nick, Bryce, Ava, and Everett. Who will win the licorice challenge, and who will quit or be thrown off first?
After much mental debate on showing his age, Ray quits first, putting him at a high risk of termination. Wonka doesn’t hesitate to remind him and everyone else of Ray’s fate. Once Ray quits, Nick realizes it’s okay for him to be second. It is left to Bryce, Ava, and Everett. Everyone is cheering for them. Somehow, Ava is still going after throwing up against two strong men. While Bryce has muscle, Everett has a dance background. Even with those two against her, Ava proves she wants to win.
The spinning defeats Bryce and Ava as they fall to the ground, leaving Everett as the winner. He’s stunned, not realizing the game has ended. Sadly, it isn’t over yet. Ray is still at risk for termination, and Everett’s win puts him in a bad place.
Being the victor comes with a price. Now, he must choose who Ray goes up against at the risk of termination. The one ploy that Everett was scared of was happening. And I feel so bad for him because, as Marcy said, it couldn't get any worse than what they just went through.
To be fair and to have the least amount of hatred against him, he picked Nick to go against Ray. Nick's partner Jason has already been terminated at the end of WonkaVision. Of course, this pick makes Kayla happy.
If twisting the licorice wasn't bad, Ray and Nick must count the licorice they produced in under an hour to determine who gets terminated and who moves forward. Ray guesses 2,999, while Nick guesses 777.
Ray wins and continues his tour after Ben (oompa loompa) reveals the licorice number is 3,847. I'm so glad Poppy was saved by Jackson's advice (go team!). But also can we talk about Nick's exit? Why did the Oompa Loompas have to make the box of licorice look so terrifying?
Yet, Nick took it like a champ and was glad for his time on the tour. Despite being the first full-time cut, he played a good game. I love how he said he'll miss everyone but Kayla. Dude, she's become my least favorite, too, sadly.
Key of Misfortune strikes
After relaxing and chatting with the other contestants, James tried to figure out what his key means that he received from the Wheel of Misfortune. As he's going to bed, it beeps with a message. “This is a key to my half-office, where my greatest half-baked ideas are born. This message is also in two halves. For the rest, follow my oompa to my half-office.”
Although the half-office is pretty cool, the thought behind it is pretty wicked. As the recipient of the will of misfortune key, James has been selected for termination, but there's a catch. He may nominate a different guest to be terminated in his place. Well, if that isn't crazy, Everett just went through this, and now James has to.
He has to sign the name he wants to nominate and then give the key to that person so they can come sign and they want to nominate. Then, it'll go on like that until one guest receives 10 signatures. If you thought the licorice game was twisted, Wonkavision “prizes” are spinning out of control.
There's another catch. James can tell whoever he wants. So, he pulls Everett, Jeff, and Ava in the pantry for a chat. He wants to play a fair game, but Jeff seems worried that he'll be separated from his daughter. I love James's confidence that both Everett and Ava showed such strong abilities in the licorice challenge that they can stand on their own if they have to. So, James is not only risking his termination but also Jeff's. Yes, that may break up one team, but it's playing a fair game. James sends Everett to sign first; he signs on line one (nominating Jeff over James) and his name disappears. That means no other player will know who you nominated. Very tricky, Wonka.
But that private conversation just turned into a whispering matter. Ava's in game mode and goes and tells other people. So should James have trusted Ava and Jeff, or did he make a mistake? He was trying to play a fair game, and I see that, but I don't think Ava did.
Thankfully, James is in this conversation. He explains it to everyone that he has asked Everett to give the key to Ava next. Even though James explains the situation, it still seems that Ava thinks the brothers have made a mistake by giving her the key of power. As we know, she'll do anything to save her dad, and she's already proved that once with the gumball machine. I don't see this going in James's favor, but this challenge could surprise me.
Depending on who voted for whom, Ava controlling the key is not a good sign. James, you hoped the next person would play fair? I don't think she's playing very fair in the way you had hoped. For once, I'm agreeing with Kayla that this game could go either way, especially with how aggressive Ava is being towards saving her dad. That aggressive nature had Ray choosing Jeff to send home.
Wonka calls James and Jeff to his half-office. They reveal the names, and James had all the votes but two, meaning his tour was terminated immediately. I love how Jeff commended James on being a great guy and that he would be missed. I love that the best thing to come out of this tour for James was growing closer with his brother.
So overall, he may have gotten himself eliminated by trusting that the next person would be in his corner, but he also played a fair game. He stayed true to himself instead of letting Wonka twist him. Maybe he didn't have the best strategy as Ava did with her bouncer-like style, but he went out in the best way.
Busy bee teams
Although I love Everett's determination to win the prize. I don't love that he's being friendly with Kayla and her mysterious, malicious ways, but whatever works to keep him from crumbling from being a solo act.
I definitely think he needs to go take some hints from Hunter, who has been solo since the first challenge. Right now, Kayla still has her dad as her teammate. He's only been put in the hot seat once, and he didn't get voted out. So let's see what alliance is for him after James played nice instead of smart and aggressive like Ava.
A bee warns them about their next challenge. An oompa loompa in a bee suit carries in a mysterious object, and then a note appears in the kitchen. The remaining contestants need to form two teams of ten for their next test. And here's another catch: each team should have sweet ones who love the honey, while there are strong ones who extract it, and things will get runny.
It seems that Ava doesn't follow instructions very well. Wonka specifically said each team needs sweet ones and strong ones. Immediately, Ava said she needed a strong team. Meanwhile, you can overhear Taylor saying we also need sweet ones.

- Raspberry Sweeteners: Ava, Kayla, Sasha, Gabriella, and Taylor
- Raspberry Extractors: Jeff, Bill, Austin, Ziad, and Bryce
- Blueberry Sweeteners: Poppy, Kellye, Joanne, and Marcy, Everett
- Blueberry Extractors: Garrison, Jackson, Shawn, Hunter, and Tatum
Honeycomb Suite
Welcome to the Honeycomb Suite! This test will be all about being loyal to others. Each team will select five sweeteners to be locked in the honeycombs. The teammates can be saved by their other teammates, who are the extractors.
How to play the game:
“One at a time the extractors will race up to the honeycomb and press the button of the sweetener they wish to release. And then slide down to the pumps where they can extract the honey from the sweeteners cell. Once all the honey is pumped out, the sweetener is free from the honeycomb and can slide to safety. The team that extracts the most sweeteners in 30 minutes will be the winners and is safe from termination.”
After the sweeteners are picked, Wonka has one more twist of his sleeve. Our sweeteners are at risk for termination if they are not out of their honeycombs at the end of 30 minutes. So not only are the extractors trying to get them out as fast as possible. They're trying to get all five out before the 30 minutes are up whether they win the challenge or not. Termination is right around the honeycomb, and I honestly don't know who's going to make it out of this one.
Tatum makes a very good point with saying Raspberry has five big, burly men as the extractors. But it is not a challenge of strength. In that sense, it is a challenge of your mental strength.
Tatum was right. Ziad went up against Jackson, who has long limbs, which Ziad quickly figured out. He fell behind getting up to the honeycombs, then accidentally pushed Taylor's honeycomb button instead of Sasha or Gabby as they had planned. Jackson tried to extract Poppy. Powered by bitterness due to Ava's aggressiveness and not letting him and Poppy on her team, he extracted Poppy first. A
With all of Ziad’s strength, Taylor finally escaped her honeycomb. Tatum and Bill go head-to-head as they slip and slide up to the honeycombs to smash the release button. The Raspberry team pulls ahead as Tatum struggles. Wonka reminds the players they can sub someone else in, but each player can save only one sweetener. Bill releases Kayla, and Bryce starts his climb up to the sweeteners while Tatum still tries to reach her mom's honeycomb button. Bryce released Sasha, who has a bumpy ride down the honey trail.
Tatum puts her trust in Garrison to get her mom. As he pulls her back in, he heads up the sticky slope. Jeff's struggle may have helped Garrison get the Blueberries back in the game as he pushes Kelley’s honeycomb button. She's released, bringing the score to 3-2 with the Raspberry team in the lead.
Shawn reaches Everett's button in record time and slides back down to begin extracting him while Jeff has barely made it 2 ft. With 8:22 minutes left on the clock, it is anyone's game! Losing hope, they switch Jeff for Austin, but who will he save? Immediately, there is disappointment as Austin chooses Ava over Gabrielle.
With most of the time gone and the game leveling out, who will win and who will be terminated? As Wonka said, don't leave your loved ones bee-hind in this challenge. We’ll have to wait until the next episode for the sticky results. Did Ava’s strong team pay off, or did it lose her the challenge by deciding the teams for everyone?
