Where do our teams stand after episode 3 of Wonka's The Golden Ticket on Netflix? Following the Key of Misfortune, four players have been terminated.
Only one full team is completely gone. Moon (Gumball) was eliminated first, followed by Jason (WonkaVision), then Nick (Licorice Twist) met his end, and lastly, James was voted out. There are 20 players left in the game, but that could all change at the end of the Honeycomb challenge.
- Raspberry Sweeteners: Ava, Kayla, Sasha, Gabriella, and Taylor
- Raspberry Extractors: Jeff, Bill, Austin, Ziad, and Bryce
- Blueberry Sweeteners: Poppy, Kellye, Joanne, Marcy, and Everett
- Blueberry Extractors: Garrison, Jackson, Shawn, Hunter, and Tatum
With four minutes remaining, the trapped sweeteners risk termination. Hunter easily got up the incline to save Joanne and Marcy (his biggest supporters) by pushing Marcy’s honeycomb button. If they can stay ahead, hopefully both will be saved.
We're in the last minute with Ava (raspberry) and Marcy (blueberry) on the line, along with two other sweeteners with the honeycombs untouched: Gabrielle (raspberry) and Joanne (blueberry).
In the last remaining seconds, Austin freed Ava. Hunter fell short by only a little bit. Raspberry wins by 1 point with Gabrielle still trapped. Blueberries lose by a point with Marcy and Joanne still trapped. Thanks to them winning, Gabrielle is free and safe from termination. Unfortunately, Marcy and Joanne went out together, leaving Hunter heartbroken that he lost his closest best friends and allies in this competition. Honestly, the entire Blueberry team is heartbroken. It's time for him to continue branching out and stay in the game.
Through this challenge, Austin and Ziad made new enemies. At the beginning, they were working out together with Sasha and Gabrielle. At the end, one choice broke that bonded trust. Ziad tries to explain that he accidentally pushed Taylor's. He apologized, but Austin went directly to Ava. There was no mistake there.
Wonka rewards the Raspberry team with champagne and bubble gum. There are 10 pieces of bubble gum in total, but only two are gold. The team must decide to pick two players. They want to mark safe from termination in the next test and gift those players with the gold gumballs.
In a turn of events, Ziad wants to give one of the gold gumballs to Gabrielle as an apology for breaking her trust in the Honeycomb test. Ava votes for her dad, but he turns around and seconds the vote for Austin. I will say, I don't like what Ava said about her dad. It was nice, but also you could have done better.
Kayla's hot seat moment proved that when she said Jeff almost cost them the win. The choice to keep Austin safe makes Sasha and Gabrielle very unhappy. They are definitely playing both sides right now.
Bubble Jeopardy!
Our contestants step back into the TV room, a little on edge but ready to win. Wonka brings in Howie Mabdel to host the next WonkaVision game. The gold gumballs came in handy. Gabrielle and Austin are safe and take a seat on the bleachers. Howie tells the remaining contestants to partner with someone they trust. One person from each pair will join Howie in the TV, but they must choose wisely because this episode of WonkaVision could mean termination.
Bill, Kellye, Jeff, and Shawn take one for their kids while they go to safety. Jackson lets Poppy go to the safety seats. Taylor takes on yet another challenge hopefully not as bad as the gumball machine one. Everett and Hunter trust their pairings with Ziad and Sasha and take the plunge into WonkaVision’s next episode.
Again, they misunderstood the game. The ones in the TV room will be the ones answering the questions correctly for their partners in the TV. If their teammate chooses incorrectly, they have to choose a piece of Wonka's brand-new Bubble Jeopardy! gum. This isn't good for anyone with potentially picking one of the pieces that's explosive and ending their tour with a bang. If your teammate guesses correctly, then the teammate on the TV has to choose a fellow TV teammate to risk termination. Despite the fears, the contestants are excited to play.
When the game begins, Kayla answers correctly, and Bill passes his gum to Hunter. It leaves everyone shocked and confused, especially her. She wanted to form an alliance with Hunter, but it sounds like her dad thought Hunter was their biggest target.
As he picks the gum, he's upset that Kayla lied to him (or so he thinks!). Hunter is safe, and hopefully Kayla gets to explain that she wanted him on their side and her dad misunderstood. It may be too late because Hunter wants revenge. When Sasha gets the answer correct, Hunter passes his gum to Bill. He's safe. He's excited to battle Hunter some more. He continues to go after Bill, making Kayla more upset since her dad is risking termination based on a misunderstanding.
Jeff interferes in the two-man war, and I couldn't be more proud, but his daughter thinks otherwise. Thankfully, she guesses correctly with only three pieces of gum left. He passed his gum to Kellye since she's not been at risk yet. Ava tells Tatum it isn't personal. Thank goodness it is sweet. Honestly, I agree the targeting was unfair. Tatum wanted to take most of the challenges, and her mom steps up.
As the game continued, Kayla chose wrong, and now her dad is terminated, leaving Kayla heartbroken. With that termination, Bubble Jeopardy! is over.
Jellybean Counters
With tensions high, the contestants are alerted of their next test. Due to Bubble Jeopardy! blowing up in her face and separating her duo, Kayla gets the power to separate another duo. She must pick four individuals who are part of an existing pair and bring them with her to Wonka's half office. Of course, he reminds them not all of them will return. She picks Bryce, Ziad, Sasha, and Poppy to join her.
“Each player must grab a handful of jellybeans up to five (1-5 jellybeans). In the order they pick, they must reveal their jellybeans. Whoever has the highest unique number of jellybeans can leave the office. Continue the game until only two of you remain.”
After Kayla reads the rules, I'm a huge fan of Ziad explaining it. Even though we saw the example here at home, the contestants didn't. The Oompa Loompas are hidden from them.
Kayla wins first, allowing her to leave the room. Although she had a target on her back, she still wishes the rest good luck as they start a second round. She even tells everyone in the house what is happening through tears. I honestly don't know if I want to believe her or not.
With Bryce out of there, Ziad and Poppy are the final two standing around the jellybean counter.
“This is the second half. Two of you remain and now we change the game. If you are holding this note you are the holder (Ziad). The other, the guesser (Poppy). Holder, you will take a Jellybean from the jar or not. Guesser, you must decide if the holder is holding one or none. If you are correct, the holder is terminated from the tour. If you are incorrect, you will be terminated from the tour.”
Will Poppy's guess be right and he'll stay? Or will Ziad be saved? Find out in the next article when Wonka decides to reveal it to the audience. This game could go either way.
