True Detective Dream Director: David Lynch
By Josh Hill
The cast of True Detective hasn’t yet been announced but the anticipation of it happening has a lot of people wondering what directors could step in and help lead the series. Despite the fact that the show is looking at trying to move to a multi-director format, there is still no reason why we can’t imagine what a full season with a Hollywood director would look like.

Not only would it be cool to see a Hollywood director take over a full season, it would be cool to see what certain visionaries would do with the series. One director who could take True Detective in a whole new direction is David Lynch, who is partly responsible for giving us True Detective thanks to his work on Twin Peaks 20 years ago.
Lynch is a kook, and that’s being generous as it’s a real task to get through one of his films. But once you do, you come out on the other end a different person and the things he could to to our minds and to pop culture if he took over True Detective are just wild to imagine.
It’s be hard to differentiate the HBO series that Lynch would take on from the one he had back in the 1990s with Twin Peaks but he has an undeniable vision and it would be a real wonder to watch him direct a full, bleak season of True Detective.
