FX CEO John Landgraf Takes Shot at True Detective
Fargo is currently the closest thing True Detective has to a high school rivalry. During the Television Critics Association — in which various networks set up interviews and previews of upcoming content — Variety reports that Landgraf gave an interview about Fargo and what else is currently going on with FX. While singing the well-deserved blessings of Fargo and the pros and cons of an a big name cast, Landgraf added his two cents about True Detective:
"“I think ‘True Detective’ is going to have to prove it’s more than a vehicle for movie stars…Nic is going to have to prove he can write something truly great. I think Noah has already proven he can write something great.”"
Relations between True Detective and Fargo started to heat up immediately after it was announced that HBO was submitting as a Mini-Series for the Emmy’s. It’s worth noting that the creators of the two shows have staid out of it so far.
