With the second season of the hit HBO series True Detective coming next year, the cast is finally starting to come together in a big way, but that’s not the only news out of True Detective for season two.

More from HBO

In addition to learning that Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn and Elisabeth Moss will be joining the cast of the show — more than likely they will be, at least — we are now learning about the first plot details that season two will follow whenever it decides to premiere.

According to The Wrap, first story details have been discovered and they reveal a plot that is both confusing yet intriguing.

"“True Detective” will follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt city manager of a fictional California city who’s found brutally murdered amid a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change freeway gridlock in the state. Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought."

It all sounds a bit Chinatown, which is likely the point, and judging from the character descriptions, we may be in for one heck of a follow up season.
