True Detective Season 2 Plot Revealed?

True Detective season two is right around the corner and while there isn’t much known about the series, we may have been tipped off to what the plot might be about.

The website Tor.com points out an interesting theory that the second season of the show could borrow from the Thomas Pynchon’s postmodern novella The Crying of Lot 49.
"Why does this matter? Well, back in March the show’s creator Nic Pizzolatto revealed that the second season would be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.” While this may seem vague, the combination of occult transportation systems and a California setting is as much of a tell as the word “Carcosa” was in season one. There is strong reason to believe that season two will be about the Trystero."
We sort of knew that the new season of the show would focus on something weird like the occult of the transportation system, and this source material seems in line with that. Hopefully though, after the plagiarism scandal the first season was embroiled in, Nic Pizzolatto cites his sources this time around.
