How Close Are We to Finding Out True Detective’s Season Two Cast?
Today brought a lot of new casting possibilities to our attention, but that’s not the only thing it did. It also gave us a better idea of when we’ll actually learn official casting news. The female actors that are newly rumored for the role are all vying for the role via audition. This means there is progress, but there’s not necessarily a clear end in sight.

The three rumored male leads, Colin Farrel, Taylor Kitsch, and Vince Vaughn haven’t been brought up in some time. That doesn’t say anything definitively about their standing for season two, but it could mean that either one or two have them have taken the role. The fact that we’re reading about female auditions means that they don’t have that aspect locked down just yet.
If things progress smoothly from this point we might be looking at a mid-October reveal, assuming that HBO will show their hand as soon as all the ducks are in a row. This is plainly guesswork, but it makes sense given the amount that’s needed to be done versus wha they already have.
We’ve waited quite some time a True Detective cast list, and we’re comfortable for as long as it takes. This doesn’t seem to be the kind of series that comes easy, maybe even by design. With all the care that’s been taken in construction the second season, we only hope that it all comes together to make something at least as stunning as the first.
