Will Colin Farrel Bring New Viewers to True Detective’s Second Season?
Star power is a very important thing that’s not to be underestimated. It’s common knowledge that a particular actor can attract viewers, and many productions spend time trying to pick just the right one. It would be difficult to argue that Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey weren’t serious draws for people during the first season.

It’s safe to say that we’ll see the same behavior for the second season, but with a focus on different actors. With Harrelson and McConaughey out, and their story officially closed, those that tuned in for those things may lose interest. On the other hand, people who were taken in with the overall mythos and feel of True Detective will stay regardless and they will be joined by fans of Colin Farrell.
Because of the massive switch up the audience of the second season of True Detective is going to change. It’s a behavior that can be expected for as long as True Detective is on the air. Like Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell can at times be a polarizing figure. And hopefully like McConaughey he will prove that he’s worth watching.
