How Did Rachel McAdams Make it to the Front Line of True Detective?
Rachel McAdams was rumored for a lead role in True Detective’s second season, but there has been precious little other information since that reveal. Until recently, that is. Rachel McAdams was officially offered the part by HBO, which leads us to wonder what happened in the interim.

The Wrap recently unveiled several actresses that were taking part in an other round of auditions for a lead role, and McAdams was not on the list. Was McAdams part of a deal that The Wrap was not privy to? It seems that although most of us moved on from McAdams when that list was released, HBO did not.
And that doesn’t mean that the other contenders aren’t out of the running. One or more of them could always appear in a different role, lead or otherwise. Creator Nic Pizzolatto has not been that reliable when it comes to detailing the amount of leads anyway. In fact, it’s safe to say that the only information that is truly reliable is what comes directly from HBO.
It could be just as simple as the new leads not working out. Hopefully, when all this is said and done, we can get something approximating the truth from McAdams herself. For now, she’s a fine fit for True Detective and we’re excited to see what she brings to the table.
