The cast of True Detective’s second season is starting to finally fill out. After this weekend brought word that both Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn would be joining the cast of the show — with Taylor Kitsch all but a lock to play the third lead — another big name is close to jumping aboard.

Variety is reporting that HBO has offered the lead female role in True Detective to Rachel McAdams.

"Rachel McAdams is said to be locking down the female lead role in season two of HBO’s “True Detective.”Sources tell Variety HBO has offered McAdams the part opposite Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. Taylor Kitsch is also expected to land the role of the fourth lead."

This seems to be in line with reports that were starting to surface that named McAdams as a front runner, despite her not showing up on The Wrap’s list of seven actresses in the running. McAdams has always been a name hanging around but never pounced on — until now.

HBO now has all four lead roles filled, and have a director hired for the first two episodes of the show in Justin Lin. This means production is on track to start in early October out in California and could still meet that mid-to-late January 2015 premiere.
