There have been a number of directors mentioned as possibly being involved with the show but only Lin has surfaced as a concrete name. With the first two episode earmarked for him, the other six remain up for grabs and a talented new filmmaker may be entering the equation again.
According to Rolling Stone, one of the directors we may see join Justin Lin in season two is none other than Andrew Dominik.
"HBO was rumored to be looking at other filmmakers to handle two or three episodes apiece, including Andrew Dominik (Killing Them Softly, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford)."
Dominik has flexed some serious cinematic muscles in his short time in the pros but he’s already a favorite of many cinephiles out there. He has the look for True Detective, he has the ability to dive deep into a project to make it amazing and he’s someone who could ping-pong off of Justin Lin’s style to make the second season of True Detective special.
