Vince Vaughn trolls are showing True Detective’s popularity
By Josh Hill
Fandom is one of the most amazing things about HBO shows and True Detective is experiencing a boom in popularity thanks to the massive following it grabbed during it’s initial run on HBO this past winter. But with great fandom comes great expectations and drawing the ire of fanboys is not a hard thing to do.

Just calling them fanboys is enough to get a fistful of Cheetos thrown in your direction — and mentioning Cheetos is a stop short of a slur for those guys (and girls).
But you know something is off the charts in popularity when it gets trolled by its own fanbase, and that’s what is happening with True Detective and it’s second season cast. Colin Farrell is the headliner on the billing for season two, but Vince Vaughn is the top dog when it comes to getting slammed for joining the cast.
We’ve seen this so many times before as Ben Affleck was trolled for taking the part of Batman, J.J. Abrams is getting it for choosing to direct Star Wars and perhaps the worst offense of all was Heath Ledger getting slammed for taking a role that won him an Oscar and has gone down as an iconic screen role.
No one is saying Vince Vaughn is going to become Marlon Brando, but the heat he’s taking for just agreeing to be on the show is hilarious in a way that shows just how popular the show really is.
