Will True Detective’s Second Season Continue the Interview Format?
One of the many aspects of True Detective’s first season that made it so unique was the format of storytelling. The flashbacks through interviews was a refreshing way to view a series. Now that everything we know and love about the first season is set to change, we don’t yet have confirmation on whether or not that includes said interview format.

True Detective can’t be seen as a one trick pony, and it therefore can’t rely on all of the same aspects that made the first season great. But besides that it’s all up to the story and what it demands. For this new California-set tale, the same format might not work. It’s another part of the first season that has to go for the series to move forward, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be sad to see it go.
And that’s if it goes in the first place. There’s still so much that we don’t know, and likely won’t know for some time. True Detective needs to continue to evolve and there are bound to be growing pains. Some things that were well liked will have to go for the sake of moving forward. That is, after all, the precedent that has so far been set.
What do you think? Are you ready for something new?
