You Should Watch True Detective this Halloween
It should be stated upfront that True Detective isn’t horror. Okay, it’s said. Now that we have that out of the way, you should be watching True Detective this month in honor of Great Pumpkin (Halloween.) True Detective may not technically be a horror, but it does contain many elements of horror that make for great spooky viewing.

We’ve already gone over the Lovecrraft-esque vibe of much of the first season, but on top of that you also have a tense police drama about a killer that uses spine-chilling symbolism and allusions to get the point across. What screams Halloween better than that? True Detective has a lot more to offer than your typical gore flick.
You can currently catch True Detective re-runs on HBO every sunday, but if you have access to that you might as well marathon it on HBO GO. There’s little else out there that offer the same cerebral chills as True Detective. It may also give you some costume ideas, though very little work is necessary to be a Rust Cohle.
Do you plan on watching something as part of your Halloween celebration? If it’s not True Detective, take the time to let us know!
