True Detective Season 2: Will long wait lose fans?

The second season of the hit HBO series True Detective is right around the corner, but the fans are wondering exactly when to expect the premiere date for the series. In fact, production hasn’t even started yet which is troubling on a number of levels for a number of different reasons.

The big question that is starting to arise now is whether or not the long wait is going to cost True Detective fans. It’s something that we haven’t considered yet but is a real possibility given the nature of the show and how little it has been on in the past year. There are only eight episodes of True Detective to digest and waiting a year may lose fans who forget about the show or just lose interest in in seeing more story told.
Fans leaving the series though is alright, as the show isn’t going to be continuing anything we’ve seen, rather is will be staring over entirely with a new story and new characters.
Still, the long wait is excruciating and it’s something that may end up turning off fans who figure they’ve waited too long for the series to come back. Not everyone will think that way, but fans will most likely need to be won back with Season 2 whenever it premieres.
