Will Season 2 theme song live up to The Handsome Family?

True Detective won over fans and critics with it’s amazing first season but the anticipation for the second season has already started to mount in more than one way.

It doesn’t help that HBO is keeping the show under complete wraps and isn’t giving fans one iota of useful information or teaser for the upcoming season. The cast seems to be picked out but it’s hard to say what’s real and what isn’t. BUt with the story, the cast and the creative minds behind the show stuck in a spot where they have a lot to live up to, another aspect of the show is being looked at as well — the theme song.
True Detective doesn’t have a theme song in the way a show like The Simpsons has as the first season’s rendition of The Handsome Family’s Far From Any Road fit the show so perfectly. The question now is will the second season of the series have a theme song that lives up to the first?
It all comes down to the story, to be honest. The reason season one had a theme song that worked so well was because it fit the story and that’s all we can hope for in season two. There’s a chance that the same theme song is used, but if it’s not the song will be judged less on how well it sits on its own and more on how it supplements the content of the season.
