True Detective Season 2: How Far From Production?
True Detective casting rumors are an interesting thing. They crop up, spread like wildfire, and the disappear for some time. We went through this cycle with Elisabeth Moss, and we’re now in the thick of it with Taylor Kitsch. The simple fact that such important decisions could still be up in the air leave us to wonder just how far from shooting True Detective actually is. The evidence that we have so far isn’t exactly comforting.
We’re still out one female lead and now Taylor Kitsch may not be involved either. Season two rumors tend to come in waves and just when you think all the pieces are beginning to fall into place, you realize that you actually knew much less than you thought. We still only have two confirmed leads so far, which isn’t exactly news since neither Kitsch or Rachel McAdams have yet to be confirmed, but at least Kitsch was thought to have been a safe bet.

We went so long without any information regarding Kitsch’s involvement that it seemed like a forgone conclusion that he’d be involved. Since that may not be the case anymore, we have at least one more lead open. If it’s not Taylor Kitsch, who will it be? Will they hold another round of auditions like they did with the female lead?
True Detective’s second season has begun to approach “it’s done when it’s done territory.” Any details regarding a premiere date, unless it’s a hard date given by HBO, cannot be trusted. Hopefully the situation regarding Kitsch is clarified soon. It was nice thinking that we had at least three leads in the bag, wasn’t it?
