True Detective Pikachu Returns in Chu Detective (Video)
The True Detective Pikachu mashup returns better than ever.
True Detective has been mashed up with so many other properties by now that we’re almost numb to it. Batman True Detective? Check. The Big Lebowski True Detective? Check. Been there, done that. But that doesn’t meant that the recent trend of combining True Detective with Pokemon, specifically with the upcoming Great Detective Pikachu, isn’t everything we have always wanted.
This is now the second Pokemon and True Detective mashup we’ve seen so far, and going by this latest one we welcome any others with open arms. YouTube user Totes Vidya went above and beyond with this. Check it out:

The first season True Detective intro is meticulously recreated using trailer footage from Great Detective Pikachu as well as some original additions. It works so much better than it should. “Chu Detective” might actually be one of the best True Detective mashups that we have ever seen, and that is saying something.
Anyone who thinks they can top it are more than welcome to come up to the plate. Basically what we have here is an embarrassment of riches, and having more certainly wouldn’t hurt. While the original trailer has been thoroughly mined at this point, hopefully more True Detective fans will try their hands at creating a mashup once the game is actually out.
