HBO released the first teaser for the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones, but it didn’t do much to soothe fans’ fears over the fate of Jon Snow. If anything, the footage served notice that no character is safe.

Airing just before the debut of “Vinyl”, HBO’s new 70’s rock series from producers Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese, the teaser fueled rampant speculation among fans who have been waiting with bated breath for something…anything to tide them over until the beginning of the show’s first season to leave “A Song of Ice and Fire” author George R.R. Martin’s novels behind and head into uncharted territory.

Opening with a wide shot of the Hall of Faces, deep inside the House of Black and White, where the faces used as disguises by the Faceless Men hang, the teaser shows us the visages of deceased characters such as Ned Stark, Joffrey Baratheon and Jon Snow. As we hear their voices echoing softly, the camera cuts to another wall, which contains some other familiar faces.

Your eyes did not lie. That was Tyrion Lannister in the center, surrounded by Sansa Stark and Daenerys Targaryen, among others. If this is any indication, the stakes will be higher than ever this season.

While it certainly has no shortage of creepy atmosphere, the teaser does not supply fans with much information as far as what they should expect in the upcoming season. As we wait for a trailer to be released…hopefully soon…we are left with a reminder that “All men must die” is more than just a catchphrase.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones premieres on April 24th.
