The First Trailer for Matthew McConaughey’s “The Sea of Trees” is Here (Video)
The first trailer for The Sea of Trees has landed, and Matthew McConaughey looks really bummed out.
Matthew McConaughey will have a very busy 2016, and that includes this particular film, The Sea of Trees. The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and after a bit of a rocky start, went silent. That’s normal for festival films, and it’s the same thing that happened to Colin Farrell’s The Lobster.
The Sea of Trees has suddenly reappeared with a new trailer, though its target is not America. The trailer is meant for Japanese audiences and features an intro from actor Ken Watanabe, who co-stars with Matthew Mcconaughey. The film, which is about meeting in Japan’s infamous Suicide Forest, wasn’t well-received at its aforementioned premiere. You can check out the trailer below:

The Sea of Trees is directed by Gus Van Sant, a man known for his art-house films. It currently sits at a 20 on Metacritic, which isn’t anywhere close to being great. To be fair, the film hasn’t had a wide release, so most people haven’t gotten the chance to see it. On that point, it’s doubtful that they will at this point — The Sea of Trees doesn’t currently have a North American release date.
It’s possible that the reception has put off a domestic release, though it would be odd for a Gus Van San film to go unreleased in America. The Japanese release, on the other hand, is coming up shortly; it will open in Japan on April 29th. It’s unclear how much longer
Next: The It remake is getting closer to reality.
We’re going to have to wait to see it, but judging by the reviews, maybe it doesn’t make much of a difference.
