Matthew McConaughey is Officially on Board for The Dark Tower
Stephen King himself has confirmed that both Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba will star in The Dark Tower.
The Dark Tower is Stehepn King’s beloved fantasy series, and it is a miracle that it hasn’t been touched until now. Rumors have been swirling for a while that The Dark Tower will be adapted into at least one film — the book series spans eight novels — and would star both Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba. Almost too good to be true, some would say.

They would be wrong. After previously stating that both Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba were at least in talks for The Dark Tower, Stephen King has confirmed on Twitter that the film is moving forward with the both of them.
This is good news for Stephen King fans, and comes after learning that a new adaptation of The Stand was being put on hold. This officially makes two Stephen King adaptations in production; It and The Dark Tower. It is more closer to reality, as it has a finished script and is expected to begin filming soon.
While The Dark Tower isn’t quite that far along, the fact that its two lead stars are officially cemented puts this project one huge step closer to reality. This being a long-awaited Stephen King project, anything could happen, so cautious optimism is the way to go even with the good news.

Idris Elba has been tangentially connected to True Detective since working with Cary Fukunaga, and now that both he and Matthew McConaughey will be staring together we’re not step closer to him in True Detective. Or at least we’re one step closer to some really good fan fiction.
