The Full Trailer for Game of Thrones Season Six is Here
HBO has officially premiered the first full trailer for Game of Thrones Season Six. Oh, yes.
Would it be out of line to consider most of the world Game of Thrones fans at this point? HBO’s record-breaking series will premiere its sixth season next month, and HBO has just released the first trailer. It’s something. Perviously we were shown a creepy teaser with a series of heads.

The first half of the trailer focuses on powerlessness. Cersei is broken, Dany is enslaved, and Melisandre admits defeat. The soundtrack of an acoustic rendition of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” is particularly fitting. The second half of the trailer is quite different.
All of a sudden we see Cersei in a position to beat back the High Sparrow and his followers, including her cousin, Lancel. Brienne is seen mid-fight, and Davos looks to be getting in the fray. Also, Melisandre will be taking of her clothes again. With so many characters to cover, the trailer doesn’t touch on everyone.
Missing are Aria, Bran, and Jamie — though we do see the back of his head. Game of Thrones is keeping a lock on the stories of those characters, and with only a month and some until the first episode, it is unlikely that we will see another full trailer.
Season five’s Dorne storyline never really took off, so season six will have to do a bit of damage control. It looks to be off to a good start so far.
This will also be the first season of mostly new material, since the series has now outpaces the books. There are still plots that the show can touch on that have been previously skipped; we at least know that it will feature at least part of the storyline surviving Yara and the Irons Islands.
Next: Girls recap: Shoshanna in Japan.
Game of Thrones also won’t be sending out any early screeners to the press, so this will be the first season in which everyone is in it together.
