True Detective’s Lili Simmons Joins HBO’s Westworld
Westworld is back on tack with a True Detective alumnus.
HBO’s new drama, Westworld, hasn’t been having a great time. Westworld was put on indefinite hold back in January, and not much was heard from it since. The new series is set to be a new take on the Michael Crichton movie of the same name and has been having some trouble getting off the ground.
Deadline is now reporting that production on Westworld has resumed and True Detective’s Lili Simmons has joined up for a recurring role. Simmons was in two episodes of True Detective’s first season as Beth, a girlfriend of Marty’s that ends up breaking the camel’s back, so to speak. She was also in Bone Tomahawk, the unique western/horror hybrid with Kurt Russel.
Don’t fret if you don’t remember her from True Detective; even though her role was relatively large in the dissolution of Mary’s marriage, she didn’t have all that much screen time. All-in-all she had a much larger role on Banshee as Rebecca Bowman.
Check out the teaser for Westworld, which was released seven months ago:

Simmons is filming with Westworld now. They’re probably eager to get the ball rolling again as quickly as possible after the long delay. HBO is going to have to restart the hype machine on Westworld, which has lost a lot of steam since it closed production in January. Westworld is still on schedule for this year, though there is no specific date as of yet.
Next: The original Maniac is all the rage in Norway.
All is still quiet on the True Detective front, with most of its principles going on to other projects. Nic Pizzolatto has been as silent as ever and there have been no new rumors to go on. It’s very likely that Westworld will premiere before the third season of True Detective. Hopefully both it and Westworld prove to be worth the weight.
