What’s Going on with Jon Snow on Game of Thrones?
The mystery of Jon Snow on Game of Thrones has been teased to the breaking point.
As all Game of Thrones fans know at this point, and potentially many non-fans as well, Jon Snow was murdered at the end of last season. It was a fact that we were reminded of during this season’s first episode, “The Red Woman.” The Wall is in a bad place right now, and Allister Thorne wants to right the ship his own way.
The audience has been led to believe that Jon is dead, and his face has been heavily embraced by HBO marketing. Case in point:

The first episode of season six did nothing to satisfy those that are adamant that Jon will return in some form. It’s not a mystery that Game of Thrones is quick to solve, and for good reason — why let the cat out of the bag before they have to? Better to keep fans on edge.
The fate of Jon Snow is only a single piece of the puzzle this season, and after the first episode it actually doesn’t seem that pressing anymore. Surely Dany’s plight is more important, and Arya’s blind training might actually be more interesting. The revelation about Melisandre also put events into persecutive.

It’s still possible that Melisandre is going to magic Jon back from the dead like Beric Dondarian. We know that revival from the dead is something that can be done in this world, and we also know that Red Priests and Priestesses are capable of it.

We might not find out how this is going to shake out until later in the season, but it doesn’t feel as important as it once did. The break between seasons was especially sharp this time around due to Snow’s murder, but “The Red Woman” did a good job reminding us that the overall story has to move forward regardless of what happens.
