Littlefinger Returns in the Preview for the Next Game of Thrones

Master manipulator Littlefinger returns to Game of Thrones in the next episode, “Book of the Stranger.”

Game of Thrones tends to control the pop culture conversation whenever it’s airing, though that feels doubly true for this season. The fact that Jon Snow is alive has been trumpeted all over the media, and even non viewers know about it and that it’s a big deal. Game of Thrones has, for better or worse, taken over.

Season six pulled some new tricks in its last episode, “Oathbreaker” by bringing back Rickon, the Stark we forgot existed. The preview for the next episode doesn’t touch on that, but it does bring back fan-favorite, Littlefinger, the man responsible for marrying Sansa off to Ramsay. Yeah.

More from HBO

It looks like Littlefinger is going to try to rescue Sansa, though it’s doubtful that she will willingly go back into his care again. Brienne certainly won’t let that happen.

Also, Robin is back. How he has managed to survive this long is practically a miracle. “Book of the Stranger” does promise movement on Sansa’s storyline as well as

Theon’s, as he has a homecoming with his sister. It will be interesting to see how his presence affects the outcome of the King’s Moot — the choosing of the next ruler of the Iron Islands.

Tensions will also rise between the Queen of Thorns and Cersei over Margery’s imprisonment, a plot point that will surely come to a head at some point. The slow-moving story of the season so far has been Dany’s, and that doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon.

Jon Snow made a dramatic exit last episode, so it’s likely that he won’t be featured in “Book of the Stranger,” though he wasn’t in the teaser either way.
