The Next Game of Thrones Chooses Violence

Let’s dig into the preview for the next episode of Game of Thrones, which promises to be a very Lannister affair.

Things are coming to a head on Game of Thrones in a big way. That probably has something to do with why we’ll be getting an extra long season finale. There is, however, still a lot of ground left to cover until we get there. The next three episodes have multiple confrontations coming up, including Jamie and The Blackfish and Cersei and the Faith Militant.

The preview for the eight episode of Game of Thrones, “No One,” kicks off with the latter. Lancel appears to be in charge of a small group of Sparrows, though that probably won’t go the way he hopes. Check it out:

Cersie, of course, chooses violence. She does have a zombified version of The Mountain on her side, after all. That would probably make anyone cocky. Later in the teaser we see The Mountain going to town on a poor Sparrow, so we can make certain assumptions on how that’s going to go down. The meat of the preview is actually focused on Jamie at Riverrrun. His last meeting with The Blackfish didn’t go well, so he’s all threats this time around.

Also, hey, there’s Brienne! It’s unclear if Sansa is nearby or if Brienne was sent solo, but her and Jamie are on opposite sides here. If push comes to shove, the two of them are going to have to fight. Jamie could technically be a better swordsman, but Brienne has Oathkeeper, a sword of Valyian steel that Jamie gave her. It will be interesting to see if she chooses to tell Jamie that she succeeded in her mission of finding Sansa and keeping her safe.

The rest of the preview is dedicated the quick shots various scenes, including one with Arya running through Braavos. She’s likely running from The Waif, though it would be an exciting turn of events if she was actually chasing her. Arya’s not going to be able to leave Braavos safely until she deals with The House of Black and White, because that’s how Game of Thrones rolls.

Podrick is also back, and in trouble. We haven’t seen Pod in some time, so hopefully he won’t be killed the moment we’re reunited with him. The Hound is also back in play, ostensibly out for blood after the last episode.

The title, “No One,” is an obvious reference to Arya’s training, though it could also have other connotations that will become clear after the episode is over.
