Will Game of Thrones Season 8 also be Delayed?
Game of Thrones season 8 could be delayed like season 7
At this point Game of Thrones season 8 is a bit of a mystery. What we know for certain is that the seventh season will be delayed until the summer, with a pending exact date. This was done in order for the series to film during colder weather and really grab that winter feel. But what is going to happen to eight season, a season of Game of Thrones that originally wasn’t going to exist?

Gone are the days of Game of Thrones reliably airing in the spring. This could affect a whole host of things, including the yearly panel at San Diego Comic Con. It will most definitely have an effect on the final season. HBO wouldn’t air the final season less than a year after season 7, so don’t expect Game of Thrones season 8 to suddenly switch back to a spring schedule.
It’s likely that the earliest we will see it is the summer after next, making it a year after season 7. On the other hand, HBO isn’t really interested in ending the series as soon as possible. We could end up waiting more than a year of the final season, especially if there are more deals caused by filming. Even though there will be less episodes to tackle, the supposed extra time could be used to further polish the end of one of the most popular television shows of all time. Not anything wrong with that.

As of right now it makes the most sense to expect Game of Thrones season 8 to air at least a year after season 7. That would put the potential end in 2018 at the earliest, but early 2019 is also possible. And just because Game of Thrones is coming to end doesn’t mean that Westeros will be leaving HBO, as there is a floating possibility of a spinoff.
