HBO Comedy has Some Heavy Hitters Coming
HBO Comedy has detailed its upcoming specials
There has always been a proud tradition of HBO comedy specials, including shows from the likes of Ricky Gervais and Louis C.K. HBO will be brining new specials and then some in the coming months, and the list of names is quite impressive even if it does include a couple of people are well-affiliated with HBO in general.
HBO comedy will feature stand up specials from Jerrod Carmichael, Pete Homes, and T.J. Miller. Unfortunately there aren’t any dates to go along with the names, just vague placeholders such as “later this year.” The Carmichael special isn’t expected until next year. Besides having his own special coming up, Pete Homes will also star in Judd Apatow’s new series, Crashing. Crashing is also due sometime next year, and then Apatow will just need to woo Amazon and Hulu to have a show on every streaming network.
T.J Miller is the main comedic force of Silicon Valley, though his particular stylings aren’t necessarily for everyone. Check out a clip of him on The Late Show to see what we’re talking about:

Ullman long been associated with HBO and will be returning to the network with Tracey Ullman’s Show, an obvious play on The Tracey Ullman Show. The new series will stay within her sketch comedy comfort zone but will only run for six episodes.
Next: The Game of Thrones season 6 Blu-Ray is coming soonish.
Tracey Ullman’s Show is the only new special with a real premiere date: October 28th. So there you go. It’s a fairly impressive list that will be sprinkled in with HBO’s regular offerings, which also happen to include some new comedy shows.
