HBO Continues Winning Streak with Creative Arts Emmys
Night two of the Creative Arts Emmys were a hit for HBO
Emmy season is in absolute full swing right now, and as usual, HBO is already coming out ahead. The full ceremony isn’t until next weekend, but the Creative Arts Emmys have already happened, giving the network a healthy head start. This is the first year that the Creative Arts Emmys have been spread out over the course of two nights, though that basically breaks down to HBO’s wins looking more impressive. Nothing wrong with that.
The other night HBO came ahead of the pack with eleven total wins, and last night brought the total number of wins up to sixteen. Last night was all about variety and late night, and no Emmy list would be complete without Last Week Tonight. The celebrated John Oliver hosted series brought in two Emmys, one for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series and the other for Outstanding Picture Editing.

Vice also won some love with their “Fighting Isis” special for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Nonfiction Program. Project Greenlight was also recognized for Outstanding Picture Editing which is a nice way for the series to go out, assuming that it won’t end up on another network after its cancellation. Finally, Jim: The James Foley Story scored one for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Film Making.
HBO may have performed the best overall, but FX was a close second. FX is the network to watch at this year’s Emmys, as they could seriously end up giving HBO a run for their money. They’ve had a healthy string of hits lately that have made them contenders. HBO has the most nominations overall, but FX could still come out ahead.
