Seth Meyers Welcomes Ben Sinclair and Katja Blickfeld

It’s late September, and that means we’re inching closer towards the premiere of HBO’s fall season. Westworld, Divorce, and Insecure are all almost within grasp. HBO decided to do something a little different, however, by having High Maintenance premiere a month early and on a Friday. The series, created by Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld, has been doing just fine.

The two creators (Ben Sinclair also stars) will be on Late Night with Seth Meyers tonight to continue repping the new show. High Maintenance is part of a new wave of pot oriented shows, a market that seems to doing quite well. At least for now. HBO is also streaming all of the back episodes of the series from when it was just a cult web series, so there’s no excuse to not catch up.

Being on HBO and making the late night rounds is a great way to get the word out there. Its subject matter and format — each episode focuses on a particular client — may keep it from ever getting bigger than a cult comedy series, but that’s not likely to bother Sinclair or Blichfeld, who are now just happy to be able to run a tighter ship.

It’s not clear just yet if High Maintenance will be around for more than just a single season of six episodes, but the buzz surrounding it is positive. It could go either way and will likely depend on ratings, but at least they’ve got the critics on their side. Besides co-creating High Maintenance, Katja Blichfeld previously worked as a casting associate for 30 Rock. Seth Meyers is the right outlet for the two, as it’s not quite as unhinged as, say, James Corden.
