Will there be Zombies on Westworld?

Ford’s new storyline hints at dark tidings, perhaps even zombies on Westworld.

There are just a couple of days left until Westworld unveils its fourth episode, which means we might find out just what happened to Teddy. The poor Host was swarmed by what looked like hooded figures, though his bullets were not effective. That leads one to believe that there actually could be zombies on Westworld, or at least zombie-esque Hosts.

Westworld is science fiction through and through, but that doesn’t mean it can’t dabble in either genres, especially by using sci-fi as a backbone to make it happen. We know that Ford is working on a new story for Westworld that will supposedly be unlike anything the Guests and team have ever seen. We also know that it involves a dilapidated church somehow, as seen in a previous episode. There’s enough reason to believe that Ford is playing around with horror, and zombies, or at least his version of them, are by no means out of the question.

The zombie theory would explain why Teddy’s bullets were so ineffective. You could also argue that the figures were Guests and that’s why he couldn’t harm them, but in previous instances we’ve seen when a Host tries to harm a Guest they are physically unable to. Teddy’s gun did fire; his bullets just didn’t do anything.

Teddy also had other guests with him, and it’s unlikely that Ford would concoct a storyline that involved unaware Hosts in that level of danger. The new story is supposed to give Guests an unforgettable experience that ended with intense personal discovery. It would say a lot about Ford’s character if he felt the way to achieve that would be with horror elements such as zombies.

Westworld hasn’t slowed down since it started and questions arise as quickly as they did with Lost. Hopefully some of these answers will at least be hinted at in the next episode, though the preview coyly avoids all mentions of Teddy.
