The Lawyers Appear in the next Episode of Divorce, Titled ‘Mediation.’
Divorce brings in the calvary. Or blood-sucking lawyers, depending on your point of view.
In ‘Counseling,’ the third episode of Divorce, Frances and Robert finally admitted that it just wasn’t going to work out. She is going to finally open her art gallery, and Robert is going to, well, that’s not entirely clear yet. Either way, the actual divorce is now moving forward after a brief stint in marriage counseling. The preview for the next episode, ‘Mediation,’ brings lawyers into the mix.

Divorce has not actually gotten ugly yet. Frances and Robert have agreed that it’s time to call it quits, though they both admit to still loving each other. The ensuing litigation, at least point, looks to be about as civil as it can get. Robert is still cracking dry jokes (“divorce school?”) and both are chipping away at the other. The couple have also done an impressive job at keeping up the facade in front of their kids, but now it’s time to come clean.
This episode will mark the halfway point of the season, and we know from the original trailers that things are going to get messier from here. Try as they might, there are just too many wounds on both sides for them to remain partners in this endeavor.

One point that has yet to be addressed, and isn’t brought up in the above preview, is how the marriage of Nick and Diane is going to effect Frances and Robert. Nick and Diane were able to patch things up after she drunkenly attempted to shoot him at her birthday party. That doesn’t compare too great to what Frances and Robert are going through. Nick is Robert’s only actual friend, and it’s unclear how he is going to counsel him in his time of need.
