Will Ford face off with the Man in Black on Westworld?
Ford and the Man in Black have a tense conversation in the preview for episode 5.
For better or worse, Westworld never takes the time to stand still. While that does have its downsides, it does make it all the more fun to think about what’s coming next. Each episode has added new twists, and the mysteries Man in Black seems to be at the heart of most of them. We know from the preview for episode 5 that Ford and the Man in Black will meet face-to-face, but to what end?

We already know that the Westworld team is aware of what the Man in Black is doing. Some of them are, anyway. Ashley, Westworld’s head of security, has already given him carte blanche. Who else knows about what he’s been up to is difficult to say, but we’ve since learned that Ford keeps meticulous track of everything. There is no doubt that Ford knows what’s going on. The question now is whether or not he’ll let it continue.
The Man in Black is simply chasing down a game that has been built into Westworld, an easter egg. So he’s not technically doing anything wrong if we were to go by the rules of the park. Sure, he’s a sociopath and lives for a little chaos, but he can be whoever he wants to be while in the park. Ford must have some other reason for wanting to stop him, or the Man in Black is after something more than fleshing out an easter egg. It’s not everyday that a Guest catches the attention of the boss.
It’s also work considering that the Man in Black knows all about Arnold and what happened to him, and it’s entirely possible that he and Ford already know each other. Perhaps they go far back — perhaps the Man in Blacks’ foundation is somehow involved with Westworld in an official, corporate capacity.

The only thing we can say for sure is that the truth will at least be teased come this Sunday, though it’s doubtful that we’re going to learn the whole of it so soon.
