Westworld Comes Unraveled in the Preview for ‘Trace Decay’

There’s a reckoning coming, and ‘Trace Decay’ is only the beginning.

There’s really no going back from last Sunday’s Westworld. And we’re not just talking about Bernard; Maeve is also in a new position now. ‘Trace Decay’ will look to reconcile these new plot turns, but it doesn’t like it’s going to go smoothly. That also means there will be a lot of ground to cover, and that’s on full display in the preview.

More from HBO

There’s no getting around that Bernard has been revealed to be a Host, and he’s not too happy and what he was forced to do. That could seriously come to back to bite Ford later on, but he’s expected to hang onto his control for a little while longer. Maeve is also going to continue to improve her stats, finding her freedom entirely on her own terms. We’re also going to check in with Dolores, William, Teddy, and the Man in Black. The past few episodes have focused on one team or the other, not both. It’s only a matter of time until they meet up.

It looks like Ford’s new narrative is in full swing, as Dolores and William arrive at a town that apparently isn’t any good for her. It’s getting increasingly difficult to figure out what’s real and what isn’t. We also know that “the game” that the Man in Black is chasing is built into the park, but it’s not something that Ford is encouraging. But considering that he controls Bernard, and Bernard has encouraged Dolores in the past… well, yes, this goes very deep.

Next: How does the Westworld reveal impact the show?

‘Trace Decay’ will be Westworld’s eight episodes, meaning that there are only three episodes left. At least we now know for sure that there is going to be a second season, or these last three episodes would be something akin to torture.
