Robert Confronts Julian in the Preview for Divorce episode 8, ‘Church.’

Robert tries to find solace in religion and confronting Julian in the next Divorce.

Divorce only has three episodes left, though there’s not anywhere near as many plot lines to unpack as there are on Westworld. Still, it’s still a bit of a mystery how the first season will end and set things up for season 2. How long can this divorce possibly go on for? The preview for episode 8, ‘Church,’ doesn’t attempt to answer that question. But it does put Robert directly in front of Julian.

More from HBO

Robert takes front and center of the preview. First we see him at church, which is where the episode gets its name, but its’ not clear how much religion is actually going to play into the rest of the season. It’s not really a topic that has been tackled before on the show outside of the family going to church on Christmas. Unsurprisingly, Robert isn’t made out for it. At least not in his current state.

We also see Frances with what appears to be a new lawyer, perhaps signaling that she has chosen to leave Max Broadkin after his stroke. Mini stroke, whatever. And then Robert gets right up in Julian’s face. This meeting has been a long time coming, and we know from ‘Christmas‘ that Julian is quite the philanderer. Robert isn’t really the type of guy to punch someone else out. It will be interesting to see what comes from this meeting of minds. Perhaps a heart to heart will get Robert and Julian to join forces? It could happen.

Next: What's up with the Westworld timeline?

Divorce continues to be a solid show that’s worth watching after Westworld on Sundays. It hasn’t lit up like Insecure has, but it has certainly earned its second season. Whether people are actually going to stay interested in what happens to Robert and Frances, however, is another matter.
