The Young Pope gets Ready to lead in a new Trailer
The latest trailer for The Young Pope brings menace and glowing reviews.
Now that Westworld is over we need another HBO drama to look forward to. Before Game of Thrones kicks off in the summer we’ll have The Young Pope. In case you haven’t been keeping track of the HBO/Sky Atlantic production, The Young Pope is about the youngest pope in history. That’s a sort of oversimplification, so check out the new trailer for some more details:
More from HBO

Jude Law’s Lenny Belardo lacks the subtlety of House of Card’s Frances Underwood, which is saying something. Just check out that clip of him really laying into Cardinal Michael Spencer, played by James Cromwell. This new trailer really lays on the menace here, with Belardo stating how he’s ready to wage a war. Oh, and he also has no sin. And then, of course, there are the reviews. We’re actually getting The Young Pope a little late as it has already premiered in most of Europe.
The Young Pope will serve as one of HBO’s winter shows, a lineup which also includes Big Little Lies and the final season of Girls. Both The Young Pope and Big Little Lies are technically labeled as limited series, though The Young Pope is angling for a second season based on the success of the first. Everything about this screams prestige project, from the high-profile cast (Jude Law, Diane Keaton,) to the creator, Paolo Sorrentino.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be life for a morally bankrupt Pope (and one who isn’t shy about it) to take power, you’ll soon have your answer. The Young Pope will premiere on January 15th, about a month ahead of Big Little Lies and Girls.
