Game of Thrones Gathers all of the Information About Season 7

Game of Thrones Season 7 is still a ways away, but HBO doesn’t want you to forget about it anytime soon.

It’s almost time to say goodbye to Game of Thrones. There are only two seasons left, and who knows when the final season will air. Now that Westworld is off the air, attention has moved over to season 7. There isn’t actually all that much known about the penultimate season just yet (if you only count officially released information,) and the recent post over at Making Game of Thrones really drives that point home.

More from HBO

It’s tough to say what drove the Game of Thrones team to assemble a list of well-known information. It could be part of a promotional lead-up, but there is a bit of “don’t forget about us!” As if anyone could. The post goes over everything we already know, such as that the season will air in the summer and the reason they took the extra time was to film in winter. There isn’t anything eye-opening or compelling here.

For those deeply invested in the series, it does offer a list of the cities that Game of Thrones will be filming in. So we suppose you could put some pieces together using that. There is also a partial list of directors, which includes newcomer Matt Shakman. So, no, there is no new information that Game of Thrones can tell us. But it doesn’t want to lose us either, and it defiantly feels like it wants to tell us something. We’re just all going to have to patient for a while longer.

Next: Will HBO ever return to political drama?

The post ends by remind us to “check back throughout the year” for updates. Ah, well. There is a big of missed opportunity here; the post does not promote the upcoming Game of Thrones marathon, but instead chooses to mention HBO Now. What’s clear is that we’re going to have to wait a while longer to learn anything new, but that isn’t all that surprising.
