The Young Pope Knows how Fetching he is in a new Preview

Lenny is not a man to be messed with. In the last episode, he threatened to depose Cardinal Voiello. That’s kind of a big deal. Each episode has seen his power and menace growing, with more and more inside the Vatican trying to figure out how to handle him. If a new preview is anything to go on, matters are only going to get worse. The Young Pope has been switching off between showing a preview for the next episode and what they’re calling an in-season trailer. This is one of the latter.

We could probably talk about that first little scene all day. Lenny wields his charisma like a true force, knowing just when to turn it on and off. He know that he is attractive, and how could he not? He’s Jude law. We also seem glimpses of Vatican City packed with people with Michael giving one of his now-famous warnings about how dangerous Lenny is. Lenny gets his own warning when told that he shouldn’t stick his nose in other people’s business. Yeah, that’s probably not going to work out.
Curiously, we also see Lenny touring a poor country. That’s specifically something he said that he wasn’t going to do, but apparently something (or someone) changed his mind. Notice how he looks away from his barely open window. We also get a little repeat here in the form of Lenny forcing Voiello to kiss his feet. We’ve seen that plenty of times in past trailers. Something else worth taking note of is Sister Mary, who now fears that Lenny is going down a dangerous path. She thinks he is an actual Saint, so it will be interesting to see what changes her mind.
There is also talk of death and a then a quick flash of a Cardinal falling backward. The Young Pope has so far been a unique, worthy watch, even with times of unevenness. We expect big things from the rest of the season.
