The family cast now has its father

Sometimes it’s exciting to watch a project come together, isn’t it? Especially when it’s from a celebrated creator. That’s certainly the case here, with Alan Ball’s new HBO family drama slowly shaping up. We say slowly because, although HBO has picked up the series for a ten episode first season, it still doesn’t even have a title. Nor is its cast completely filled out. At least on the casting front we have one new piece of good news to talk about, and tat’s Tim Robbins.

More from HBO

According to Deadline, Tim Robbins will be joining the Alan Ball project as Greg Bishop, husband to Holly Hunter’s character. That puts him in a co-star role, so we should be seeing quite a bit of him. Greg’s family life is in turmoil after one of his sons starts seeing strange things, and this stress causes Greg to question his life and what he believes to be true.

Robbins previously worked with HBO on The Brink, a political comedy series that was renewed and then cancelled. Hopefully this will work out a big better than that. Tim Robbins is an excellent actor that has starred in some woefully underrated films, such as Jacob’s Ladder. He also memorably played Ian in High Fidelity and starred in The Shawshank Redemption.

Next: Hannah meets a successful author in the next Girls.

The cast for Alan Ball’s untitled show is panning out nicely, and should now be solidified. With Tim Robbins on board, the entire Bishop family has been cast. Filming should begin soon with an expected premiere date in early 2018, though late 2017 isn’t entirely out of the question. Are you as excited for a new Alan Ball show as we are? The sheer star power of Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins cannot be ignored.
