21. Whatever happened to Mr. Wrench?
Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers were a fun little combo from the first season. Mr. Wrench, a deaf man, relied on Mr. Numbers to get by and do his job. The duo represented a fun, but menacing element back when Fargo was just getting started.
Numbers doesn’t end up making it (he gets killed by Malvo) but Wrench gets arrested and then later set free. After a short stay in a hospital, we don’t lay eyes on Wrench again. His survival makes his potential appearance in the third season likely, especially because he was one of the few to survive. And even though Malvo is long gone, we bet he’s looking for revenge on someone. Or perhaps he has already found it?
There actually hasn’t been a season without these two yet – the previous season featured a deaf kid playing with his friend, thought to be the young Wrench and Numbers.
22. Expect the Season 1 references to outnumber season 2
While we’re comfortable saying that Fargo has now moved beyond the movie that inspired it, that by no means indicates that its done mining its past. At least half of these predictions have involved past characters, but has not really extended to season 2.
Sure, we are ready to make some compromises on that point, but season 2 will be so removed from season 3’s modern setting that it’s only natural for it to be pushed to the side. As the universe continues to expand, expect more characters to fall to the wayside. That’s just how it goes.
