American Gods season 1, episode 7 preview “A Prayer for Mad Sweeney”

American Gods is rocketing towards the conclusion of its first season, and this week ‘A Prayer for Mad Sweeney’ promises more mayhem, and perhaps more death.

With just two episodes to go in its first season, American Gods rapidly approaching its climax. Through the first season, we have met wonderful characters like Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) and Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle, as well their adversaries Mr. World (Crispin Glover) and Media (Gillian Anderson). This week though, Mad Sweeney takes center stage at 9 pm EST in the aptly titled ‘A Prayer for Mad Sweeney’. Side note, if Mad Sweeney dies, we riot.

Laura turns to an unlikely travel companion to find her way back to life & back to Shadow. Mad Sweeney’s long and often tragic past is explored.

As you can see, things are not looking great for our favorite Russian leprechaun. It’s unclear as to why, but ever since Sweeney discovered he’d given his lucky coin to Shadow Moon by accident, he has been desperate to recover it. That it is now in the possession of Shadow’s dead/undead wife Laura, has proven quite the conundrum given Laura’s resurrection endowed her superhuman strength.

The duo head to Wisconsin for some reason or another, apparently at Laura’s request. Likely Laura is following Shadow, but on American Gods, who knows really. Either way, we reiterate our threat; if Mad Sweeney dies, we riot.
