5. Lorien Legacies – I Am Number Four
Much like Percy Jackson, the Lorien Legacies also got a chance to make it as a movie with I Am Number Four. Sadly, the movie was not a box office success and there were no sequels.
That movie, which was quite entertaining, was about a child from another planet sent to Earth to hide as an alien race set out to commit genocide against their entire race. The aliens tracked them to Earth and began to kill each of the children one-by-one, becoming more powerful along the way.
While the movie was entertaining, this is a perfect idea for an adaptation for TV. With shows like Revolution, Colony, and Falling Skies entertaining fans, the Lorien Legacies could be a great addition with the added lure of being a young adult series with young heroes battling for the survival of Earth.
I Am Number Four introduced the first two characters battling in the war (Four and Six) and the rest of the series introduces the remaining survivors of the 10 kids sent to Earth.
There is an alien invasion, kids with superpowers, political intrigue and the nations of the world try to figure out how they will survive, as well as issues of trust, loyalty, friendship and love.
There is a lot to like about this series by Pittacus Lore (actually a pseudonym of James Frey and Jobie Hughes) and this could be a great show for any number of networks, including The CW, Starz, or FX.
