Will Jon Snow ever trust Theon Greyjoy again?
Jon Snow and Theon Greyjoy had their own reunion on Game of Thrones 704, “The Spoils of War,” and it wasn’t as heartwarming as the other reunion this episode.
Theon Greyjoy and Jon Snow never really got along. Theon was raised as the ward of Ned Stark at Winterfell along with Lord Stark’s children, which included Jon Snow, whom he claimed was his bastard.
When Theon was sent by Jon’s brother/cousin Robb Stark — the then King in the North — to treat on his behalf with Balon Grejoy for an alliance, Theon turned on Robb and attacked Winterfell, claiming the home of House Stark and killing two boys claiming they were Bran and Rickon Stark (who had fled toward the Wall).

By the time season 5 rolled around, Theon had been tortured into a shell by Ramsay Bolton, and he now went by the name Reek. However, Sansa Stark’s arrival at Winterfell and the torture she received by Ramsay, helped embolden Theon and he helped Sansa escape Ramsay’s clutches.
And that, as Jon Snow tells Theon, is the reason he didn’ kill him on sight.
Honestly, the fact that Theon wasn’t killed by his own men is a miracle in itself. The Ironborn do not look too kindly on weakness. And, Theon regressing back into Reek — because of his PTSD — and jumping ship, leaving Yara in the hands of their Uncle Euron, is the epitome of weakness, to them.
