A list of premiere and return dates for Marvel television shows

Move over DC, Marvel is taking over the television landscape and the former is now being dominated by the latter.

With six shows either premiering or returning for the 2018-2019 season, the new year is looking promising for comic book fans. For those who are a little-lost keeping track of all of the premiere/return dates for their favorites shows, check out the list below that pulls them all on the same page.

Agents of Shield (ABC) – January 5 at 9 p.m.

The underrated foundation for the Marvel Television Universe, Agents of Shield is picked up their fifth season after its holiday break. The agents pick up with Fitz finally arriving at the Kree-controlled spaceship in the future to save his team from the clutches of evil. He arrives in the nick of time with a plan that involves sending Daisy into an inhuman battle to the death while using that time to save his partner, Simmons, from being a slave for the rest of her days.

Jessica Jones (Netflix) – March 8

It’s been a three-year wait since the first season of the critically acclaimed drama debuted, but now fans will finally get to reunite with their favorite hard-drinking P.I. However, the streaming service has kept most information about the upcoming season under wraps and very few spoilers have leaked. What do we know for sure? Kilgrave (David Tennant) will be returning in one form or another while Trish will finally be donning a yellow shirt to fight some crime. Fun.

Legion (FX) – April 2018

The X-Men show that reminded everyone that mutants can be cool, took fans by surprise with an impressive storyline and phenomenal acting. Last year, the show left off with David disappearing and the Shadow King taking over Oliver as his new host. The only detail that has been confirmed for season two is that a one-year time jump will take place.

Of course, if David is indeed crazy then the passing time could just be an illusion for a different, larger event. Whatever insane path Legion is taking its viewers on this year, hopefully, it involves another dance sequence for Aubrey Plaza.

Cloak and Dagger (Freeform) – TBA

Freeform’s first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a lot to live up to after the success of Hulu’s Runaways. Described as a dark teen drama, Cloak and Dagger follows two completely opposites in teenagers Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) as an unexpected event throws the two together and forms an unbreakable bond for the rest of their lives.

If the show ends up being a success, there could be a crossover with Marvel’s other teen show, Runaways, because the two groups do have a comic book history.

Luke Cage (Netflix) – TBA

It seems almost unfair that Luke Cage would debut season two so quickly yet stall Jessica Jones for so long, but fans are definitely not complaining. The unbreakable man returns to Harlem after his adventure with The Defenders to focus on reclaiming his home. He’ll have to face off against Mariah and Shades, two people who are not interested in his version of a better Harlem.

Luckily, his girlfriend/nurse, Claire, will be there to help, as well as Danny Rand, who is confirmed to make an appearance. Considering Iron Fist’s and Luke Cage’s extensive friendship in the comics, it’s nice to see that relationship develop on screen. Not to mention, Misty Knight will also be stepping into a more central role now that she has her robotic arm.

2018 is a new beginning for some Marvel shows while others come to an end. Runaways wraps up its freshman season this Tuesday and The Gifted airs its two-hour finale on January 15. Those two series have been excellent and fans will be happy that the quality programming Marvel has offered will continue into the new year.
